Plans Change, and That’s Okay
Last week, I was pretty devastated to find out that I didn’t get the RA position. (Well, maybe more surprised than devastated, and I’m not alone. I’ve had several people tell me that they’ve never heard of a finalist passing all the tests and then not getting the job. Sigh…)
I had to act pretty quickly, so I snatched up one of the last rooms in Founders Hall, which is currently under construction. It’s considerably more expensive than the dorm I currently live in. Which makes sense, because it will be brand-spanking-new. (I currently live in one of the crappiest dorms on campus. I love the community of Pomfret, but it is pretty crappy.) I was planning on next year being much less expensive, but things have obviously changed. My parents okay’d the new dorm choice, and I’m actually getting pretty excited.
My roommate next year is actually from St. Louis, which is crazy to me, because I randomly chose a room. I’ll be staying in such a nice dorm, which is so exciting to me! It has its own dining hall, which will be great, and I’ll be right above Starbucks, which might not be great (because I have a green tea frapp problem developing). I’ll also be less than a 5 minute walk from my “home” (aka Vol Walker Hall, home to the school of architecture beginning in August). AND, if I’ve done my calculations right, I’ll have a lovely view of the Arkansas hills.
So things aren’t what I thought they would be, but I think they’ll still be great. Fingers crossed for an amazing year!
